How We Started
Amanullah and Saddam, two dropout kids from school, didn’t know back in 2015 that they would be the reasons for many children getting help now through Jhilimili. In 2015, some final year students from the Institute of Business Administration came across the individuals mentioned above and got to know that they had to drop out of school to support their families. With the vision of helping kids like these two, Jhilimili was formed. Over the years, it has turned out to be a helping hand to children roaming in Dhaka University area in not only education but also other aspects as well. Now, Jhilimili tries to ensure a happy childhood for these deprived children.
Jhilimili works not only to ensure education but also to provide a childhood full of fun and amusement. It bakes cakes for children, applies henna to them, and gives them Eid clothes to them during Eids.
Keeping in mind that these children have gone or gone through various kinds of abuses, it partners with other organizations and arranges campaigns to make these children aware of these abuses.
In 2018, the First Official Jhilimili Event took place. Jhilimili arranged an art exhibition at the EMK center where every picture was drawn by these deprived children. They were asked to draw whatever they wanted to be of themselves and pictures were auctioned. The money collected from the auction was given to the families of those children and it was requested that this money would be spent on their educations.
